The latest Afrimat Construction Index, a composite index of the level of activity within the building and construction sectors, released on Tuesday, revealed that the index improved to 111.3 in the fourth quarter of 2020, which is 60% higher than during the Covid-19 lockdown-hit second quarter of 2020.

The provincial Department of Social Development presented their financial needs and accounted for the state of their department before the Free State Legislatureâs Standing Committee on Public Accounts and Finance on Friday.
This as the committee is considering the Appropriation Bill for various departments after the tabling of the provincial budget on Wednesday.
Appearing before the committee, the CFO of the Free State Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Jabulile Maphisa, said the department has been allocated provincial funding with an equitable share of R949,9 million. The specific earmarked equitable share is divided into infrastructure enhancement allocation of R2 million and revenue at R71,8 million. National funding is allocated R83.8 million.
