ISLAMABAD: PM’s Special Assistant on Religious Harmony and Middle East Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi said coordination centre has been constituted to contain the misuse of blasphemy laws.
“Misuse of blasphemy laws is being restrained in Pakistan. If anyone has any evidence in this connection, they should bring these incidents into the notice of government,” Ashrafi said this Sunday while addressing a ceremony in a church in Islamabad.
He said the government and state is responsible to ensure protection of minorities rights in Pakistan. “A complaint centre has been set up in my office to address legal complaints of minorities,” he added.

ISLAMABAD: PM’s Special Representative on Religious Harmony and Middle East Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi said economic cooperation between Pakistan and Arab countries is being reinforced in next three months in trade, tourism and industry.
“Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are time-tested friends,” he said on his return to Pakistan after a visit abroad. He said the government was taking initiatives on emergency basis for addressing issues of Pakistanis living in Middle East.
While condemning Houthi rebels missiles strikes on different cities of Saudi Arabia, Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi said OIC and UN should take action on these attacks. He also urged the officials serving in Pakistan’s embassies in Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates to strive further to address the issues of Pakistanis residing in these countries. The government representatives on Sunday lashed out at the PDM, saying it was trying to “blackmail” the premier for seeking a relief in their corruption cases through arranging public meetings and termed their leaders “hereditary characters” with an “undemocratic attitude”.

FAISALABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Interfaith Harmony and Middle East Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi has said defeatist mentality had unleashed a hybrid war to create uncertainty, chaos and confusion in the country.
“For the purpose, divergent forces have been brought together under the platform of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM),” he said while addressing a news conference here at the Circuit House on Sunday.
He said that Pakistan is striking a strategic balance in the region and making substantial development on economic front. He said anti-Pakistan forces were using religious and political clout to fulfil their nefarious designs. He said that allies of JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman utilised their cronies during their tenure to recognise Israel and, in this connection, a delegation was also sent to Israel. He said that the Maulana, instead of exposing them, was criticising the PTI government.

Special Representative to the Prime Minister on Interfaith Harmony and Middle East Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi has said that no one will be allowed to make panic in the country on the issues of forceful conversions and underage marriages.
Talking to visiting delegates and representatives of different religions and religious sects at his office on Wednesday, he said that there is no space for forceful conversions and underage forceful marriages in Islam .
