BEACH works to replenish sand at eight areas in Bournemouth and Poole will get under way later this month. Huge pipes are being put in position and laid out along the beach in Southbourne for the first phase of a £7.5 million scheme to renourish the beach with sand. The work is part of the Poole Bay Beach Management Scheme which is designed to make the coastline more climate resilient. In recent days heavy machinery has been moving the pipes around. Eventually 350,000 cubic metres of sand will be pumped ashore and levelled on the beach. The areas set to benefit include beaches at Fisherman s Walk, Portman Ravine, Boscombe Pier, West Cliff, Middle Chine ad Shore Road.
