A funeral service with full military honors will be held Saturday, April 24 at 10 a.m. for beloved Montgomery Bell Athletics teacher and rifle coach Lt. Col. Joe Sharbel, who died this week from injuries sustained in a road accident. He was 60.
The service will be held at Cathedral of Incarnation, 2015 West End Avenue and is limited to 300 attendees. A stream will be available at the MBA dining hall, where a celebration of life will begin at 11:30 that morning.
Sharbel, a retired Marine, died Monday after the accident occurred last Friday. Sharbelâs Buell motorcycle was struck when a Ford Escape attempted a left turn into the Kroger parking lot, according to Metro Nashville policeâs initial investigation. The other driver, Anna Proctor, was released from Vanderbilt Medical Center with minor injuries.

Coach Jason Piercey has announced his resignation as the head coach of the MTCS boys basketball team.
During his 14 seasons as the leader of the basketball program, Coach Piercey’s 206 wins make him the winningest coach in school history. In 2016, heled the Cougars to their first state tournament. He also led the team to three district championships, one region championship, and two sectional appearances. While at MTCS, he was twice named district coach of the year and was named the DNJ All-Area coach of the year in 2016.
