UPDATE: The WDOC issued a correction on Tuesday afternoon. They had originally reported 21 staff and 3 inmates positive for COVID-19 at the Wyoming State Penitentiary. The WDOC corrected that information to report 3 staff and 21 inmates positive. This story has been updated to reflect the correction.
CASPER, Wyo. The Wyoming Department of Corrections said on Tuesday, Dec. 29 that routine surveillance sampling of inmates and correctional staff in Wyoming in the last week revealed 42 new positive cases of COVID-19.
24 cases were identified at the Wyoming State Penitentiary, 16 cases at the Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution and two cases at the Wyoming Honor Farm:
In an update from the Wyoming Department of Corrections, as of Friday Dec. 18, the number of positive COVID-19 cases (confirmed positives) identified in routine surveillance samplings conducted last week was 75.
Below is a listing of the numbers by facility. Beginning today, Dec. 21, comprehensive surveillance sampling of staff and inmates will be conducted at WSP and WMCI and a 20% surveillance sampling will occur at the other WDOC sites and results will be released upon receipt.

CASPER, Wyo– The Wyoming Department of Corrections (WDOC) has identified 75 positive confirmed COVID-19 cases through routine surveillance samplings conducted this week, WDOC said in a release Friday Dec. 18.
“Beginning Monday, Dec 21, comprehensive surveillance sampling of staff and inmates will be conducted at WSP and WMCI and a 20% surveillance sampling will occur at the other WDOC sites and results will be released upon receipt,” the department said Friday.

The Wyoming Department of Corrections released their latest confirmed positive COVID case numbers today, December 15th.
The latest numbers show that only one DOC facility, Wyoming State Penitentiary, has active COVID cases. The Wyoming Honor Farm in Riverton has had a steady decrease in reported cases since November.
