Minister Fortier and Minister Carr meet with Community Leaders in Winnipeg as part of Budget 2021 consultations

Today, the Honourable Mona Fortier, Minister of Middle Class Prosperity and Associate Minister of Finance, and the Honourable Jim Carr, Special Representative for the Prairies, met virtually with stakeholders in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to hear their ideas about how Budget 2021 can support families, workers and businesses and help the city become stronger, and more inclusive after the pandemic.
The government has a plan to make smart, targeted investments to jumpstart the country’s economic recovery so Canada can come roaring back after the pandemic.

The discussion and ideas shared with Minister Fortier and Minister Hajdu during the round table will also help the government ensure an inclusive, equitable and resilient recovery that leaves no one behind.
Protecting the health and safety of Canadians is the government’s top priority as it continues to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. Crucial to this work is the heroic dedication of Canada’s health care professionals, who are working on the frontlines of this crisis.

OTTAWA - Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland says the federal government is looking seriously at tougher travel measures to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, including mandatory hotel quarantines for air travellers returning from non-essential trips abroad. I would like to stress that we are taking this measure very, very seriously. We are considering the issue very, very seriously, Freeland said in a news conference Monday in response to a question about the potential quarantine rule.
