In the last quarter of the year, resident employment grew by 28,900, after increasing by 43,200 in the previous quarter. This was due to a pick-up in business activities after the circuit breaker in April and May.

But for 28-year-old Asaad Fazah, it became a harsh reality in May last year.
A mere six months into his second job, the business graduate was abruptly notified via email, no less that he would no longer be required to attend the company s meeting that day. When it happened, I was just like, Oh, okay. I guess I ll close my computer now and continue eating breakfast , Asaad told AsiaOne with a wry chuckle.
The company, a business consulting firm headquartered in Sydney, had already instituted major pay cuts and even slashed working hours for some of his colleagues at that point, he explained, so he might have been disappointed but not surprised .

Launched today under the SGUnited Mid-Career Pathways Programme, the Company Training for Business-Ready Human Resource Professionals is a six-month full-time training course designed to equip about 200 participants with industry-relevant and work-ready skills for a successful mid-career switch into HR and peopled management.
Designed by Korn Ferry Academy, the course aims to equip participants with market-relevant and practical skillsets through a series of lectures, interactive webinars and in-class sessions with selected institutes of higher learning; fireside chats with HR leaders; guided project work; and more.
