Nationally, the deaths of 231 people were announced, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 47,980. Dates of death range from December 9 to 26.

All except seven, aged 30 to 97 years old, had known underlying health conditions.

Nationally, the deaths of 416 people were announced, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 47,399. Patients were aged between 32 and 102 years old. All except 15, aged 37 to 90 years old, had known underlying health conditions.

The rate of cases in the district has fallen sharply in recent weeks, and now stands at 120 per 100,000 people, far below the national average of 263 per 100,000.
But the district, along with the rest of West Yorkshire, remains under Tier 3 restrictions, meaning pubs and restaurants remain closed, and people are encouraged to leave home only for essential trips such as food shopping and work.
