Light snow hits spots of Willamette Valley, Salem hills Tuesday, Coast Range highways impacted Zach Urness, Salem Statesman Journal
UPDATE at 2:24 p.m. Tuesday
Snow flurries were reported across the Salem area and Mid-Willamette Valley floor starting around noon Tuesday.
The snow appears to be sticking to the ground across higher elevations of Salem and on the west side of the Willamette Valley. Snow has also been reported in parts of the Portland Metro Area, including Forest Grove.
However, no snow is sticking yet in the Santiam Canyon area east of Salem, even at higher elevations including Mill City.
Snow on Coast Range roads west of the Willamette Valley has brought multiple car accidents, leading to the closure of Oregon Highway 22 seven miles east of the intersection with Salmon River Highway OR-18. There are also delays on Highway 20 west of Corvallis.

GATES, OR (KPTV) A family who lost so much is now receiving a tremendous gift.
United Way of the Mid-Willamette Valley, along with Tiny Mountain Houses, International Housing Concepts and the Santiam Integration Team worked together on plans Monday announced Monday to build and donate a “park model” home to the Smith family of Gates.
Tim and Sharon Smith, along with their two school-age children, have been living in a leaking camper parked on the property where their house once stood.
Their home was destroyed by the Beachie Creek Fire last September.
