A £110 million plan to transform Mid Wales has been signed off by the UK and Welsh Governments. The Mid Wales Growth Deal reached a significant milestone today (Tuesday, 22 December) as Heads of Terms were signed by by the Welsh Government, UK Government and the local authorities involved – Powys and Ceredigion Councils. The deal commits both the Welsh and UK Governments to each back the growth deal with a £55m investment. The partners in the deal will now move on to identifying specific projects which would benefit from investment, and eight broad areas have been identified. In a joint statement, the leaders of Ceredigion and Powys County Councils, Cllrs Ellen ap Gwynn and Rosemarie Harris, said “This is a significant milestone for us in Mid Wales, showing the dedication and commitment to the region of all partners – and is a very positive development at the end of a very difficult year.

The Mid Wales Growth Deal reached a significant milestone this week (Tuesday, 22 December) with the signing of the Heads of Terms by the UK Government, Welsh Government and the region’s local authorities.
The signing demonstrates a commitment by both governments and the local authorities to work together to deliver a deal to support the economy of the region.
It also commits both the UK and Welsh Governments to back the growth deal with a £55m investment each, totalling £110 Million.

THE North and Mid Wales growth deals are due to reach major milestones over the next few days, which will mean every region of Wales will be covered by a growth deal. The final deal agreement for the North Wales Growth Deal is to be signed today (Thursday, December 17) in a live streamed virtual event. The deal is backed by £120m each from the Welsh Government and UK Government. Meanwhile, next Tuesday, December 22, progress on the Mid Wales Growth Deal is expected to be announced involving representatives of Powys and Ceredigion county councils as well as the Welsh Government and UK Government.
