A Head Start for Kids

◆ The LUCDA is Dedicated to Early Childhood Development in Western Wyoming. The Lincoln Uinta Child Development Association (LUCDA) offers free developmental screenings to the children of Lincoln and Uinta counties. The screenings happen twice a year, with the next ones in Star Valley planned for this Friday, April 9, in Afton and Thayne; and on Friday, April 23, in Alpine. Braves face Trojans and Mustangs on the road this weekend

◆ Star Valley Soccer will be challenged with road trip. After a week off for Spring Break, the Star Valley Braves soccer team will be back in action this weekend as they face off against perennial powers in Casper. Most recently the team battled to a 2-1 loss at Rock Springs at the end of March but the score did not tell the story of the match which often times is the hard part of soccer outcomes. “I thought our boys played really hard,” stated Head Coach Trevor Spencer. “We had a good week of prep leading up to the match. We had a lot of chances but we definitely did out-shoot them. We even had two penalty kicks that we missed. When you lose a game and miss two of those that’s certainly a big factor.”

New pastor shepherds with simple faith

“… If we can find Jesus in … ordinary, nothing really special tasks that we all have, we will be able to find him in those times that we face trials.” Pastor Tammy’s 2021 Easter message The Easter message from the new pastor of Star Valley United Church was simple – the kind of simple where you forget the question. “Jesus is waiting for us in the ordinary places of life.” For Pastor Tammy Heimgartner, who shepherds the ELCA Lutheran/Presbyterian congregation of Star Valley, there never was a question of “Where is Jesus?” For the little girl growing up worshipping in the Good Hope Lutheran Church on a hilltop overlooking dry farms in north central Idaho, God was part of daily life.
