When Star Wars: Galaxy s Edge first opened, fans were ecstatic because it s the first time fans could set foot on Batuu. Then came the shops at Blackspire Outpost, which became the first Star Wars themed stores to ever exist within any of Disney’s theme parks. Meanwhile, during the coronavirus pandemic, Disney announced that there would be a temporary Star Wars Trading post in Downtown Disney. Well, there was so much success of the Trading Post, which sold authentic Galaxy’s Edge merchandise, Disney announced that a permanent location would take over the former Rainforest Cafe location. This news was announced back in September and now we officially have a date for when the new Star Wars Trading Post will open and it s a lot sooner than expected. Disney Parks Blog shared the announcement today stating that the new Star Wars store will open on February 19th. Disney Parks Blog said in the announcement:

Disneyland Resort has had to get quite creative when it has come to keeping business going during the pandemic. The two theme parks have been closed since March and there s no indication when they might reopen. Only Downtown Disney, the shopping and dining district, has been open to guests, but even that has undergone significant changes in the last year. In an attempt to give visitors access to special Disneyland merchandise from Star Wars: Galaxy s Edge, the WonderGround Gallery was recently transformed into Star Wars Trading Post. While this gave guests the chance to buy things that hadn t been available for months, it removed the ability of guests to see, nevermind purchase, some really amazing Disney-themed artwork. Soon, however, that ability will be back as Disneyland has announced the Star Wars Trading Post will be moved and the WonderGround Gallery will reopen.
