“Did you notice an increased presence of law enforcement around town last week?” a post on the Casper Police Department’s Facebook page asked.
The post then went on to explain that, throughout March 29 and March 30, the Casper Police Department partnered with the Wyoming Highway Patrol, the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office, the Mills Police Department, the Evansville Police Department, the Glenrock Police Department, and the Casper-Natrona County Public Safety Communication Center to carry out a Drug Interdiction Operation.

CASPER, Wyo. The Casper Police Department said on Wednesday , April 7 that a “drug interdiction operation” with funding support from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)Domestic Cannabis Eradication/Suppression Program was carried out in the Casper area last week.
During the March 29-30 operation, various law enforcement agencies made a total of 389 traffic stops. The operations result in:
23 total arrests
600 mg THC edibles
66.7 grams of methamphetamine
269 warnings
Casper PD said they were asked to participate in the DEA’s Domestic Cannabis Eradication/Suppression Program in 2019. They were unable to participate in 2020 due to COVID-19 and the March 29-30, 2021 operation was the first of the year.

UPDATED: Suspect Taken Into Custody By Casper Police

The Casper Police Department reports that they made contact with the individual via phone, and have taken the individual into custody. At 6:35pm negotiators made contact with the individual over the phone, the Casper PD noted. The individual exited the home voluntarily and was taken into custody, then transported to the police department for interviews. At this time the investigation is ongoing and the nature of the investigation cannot be disclosed.
Additional details will be released at a later date.
The Natrona County Special Response Team has been called to the standoff in north Casper.
