Photo courtesy PTCL website/File ISLAMABAD: The Pak­istan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL) revenues rose 8 per cent to Rs38 billion mainly driven by broadband and corporate and wholesale business segments during the first half of calendar 2021, which is the highest half-year growth since 2014. Briefing the media after the company’s board of directors meeting, Group Chief Financial Officer Nadeem Khan said improved customer service and introduction of better products helped the PTCL and the whole group including Ufone and UBank to improve its financial results. He added that the company had successfully sustained the momentum of growth from its last quarter’s turnaround. During the past quarter, PTCL strongly focused on enhancing customer experience through provision of high quality and fast internet under its flagship ‘Flash Fiber’ Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) project.

IT sector can provide employment to millions of Pakistanis, says Alvi July 13, 2021 The IT sector can play a critical role in providing employment to millions of Pakistanis and contributing towards the economic progress of the country, President Dr Arif Alvi said on Monday at the signing ceremony of initiating an optic fibre cable (OFC) project to provide connectivity in three districts of Sindh. The Federal Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, through the Universal Service Fund (USF), has initiated a project worth Rs2.1 billion in Benazirabad, Naushahro Feroz, and Khairpur districts to lay down the OFC. Alvi thought it was necessary to keep up with the changing times and embracing technological developments taking place globally, and the prime minister’s vision of Digital Pakistan required that Pakistan meet the international standards of technological advancement and progress.
