Detailed plans for a £7 million contentious housing development in Oldham have been lodged with the town hall.

A total of 225 homes across three developments plus a mobility hub, featuring parking for 400 vehicles and 180 bikes, make up the proposals lodged by Manchester City Council, Manchester Life and Great Places Housing Group.

An eight-storey apartment block on the corner of Poland Street and Jersey Street featuring 118 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments. The scheme is being delivered by investor and developer Manchester Life, a joint venture between the city council and Manchester City FC owner and investor, Abu Dhabi United Group.

Great Places wants to deliver an affordable scheme comprising 45 apartments and 23 houses, providing a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom properties. The development would be located on the corner of St Vincent Street and Woodward Place, close to the Rochdale Canal.

FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE: QUARTER THREE RESULTS
The management accounts of Great Places Housing Group (the Group) show year to date surplus of £15.3m, £2.1m better than budget. Turnover in the period (all income including property sales) was £103.0m and operating surplus £35.2m.
The main savings were interest £1.0m, due to interest rates lower than budget and effective management of liquid cash and revolving credit facilities, and property sales surpluses overall being £0.7m higher than budget. Other variances included overhead savings like bad debt expense lo

The developer has acquired the 12-acre Kirkmanshulme Road site from Crown Oil Pension Fund for an undisclosed sum, enabling it to demolish the greyhound track and build 247 homes.
Campaigners had been hoping to pull together a bid to buy site in Gorton, Manchester, to save the stadium from being knocked down, but were ultimately unsuccessful.
Countryside Properties was granted conditional planning approval to redevelop the stadium in December 2019, but construction work could not start until the housebuilder had acquired the site. The sale was delayed due to a moratorium that was implemented at the time the stadium was designated as an asset of community value.

A mum who has been given the keys to a ‘state-of-the-art’ new council home in Oldham said it has ‘given her family a whole new world’.
Oldham council has bought 19 eco-friendly, five-bedroom properties in Primrose Bank to provide affordable family accommodation in the borough.
Mum-of-four Louise is one of the first residents to move into the development, and more families will be moving into seven of the homes in the coming weeks.
