Authorities respond to the Fox River Mall in Grand Chute, Wis., after two people were shot in the mall Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021.
Grand Chute Police Chief Greg Peterson and U.S. Marshal Anna Ruzinski announced the arrest of Dezman Ellis on Thursday night.
According to a post from the police department, officials reached out to the U.S. Marshals Service after learning Ellis was likely leaving the state. The U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force took on the investigation Monday.
Police said Ellis was taken into custody without incident in Des Moines, Iowa at around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

BILLINGS - A man described as a person of interest in a Billings homicide who is also wanted on felony charges has been captured.
The U.S. Marshals Service said in a press release issued Friday that Lorenzo James Harris was captured Thursday in Chicago by a fugitive task force. He is pending extradition from Illinios to Montana.
Harris, 28, has been described as a person of interest in a Billings homicide, according to authorities. He is also wanted on two felony warrants out of Yellowstone County District Court for violations of conditional release on original convictions for assault with a weapon and strangulation of a partner or family member, the press release states.

CROWN POINT â DNA evidence helped authorities secure murder charges this week against two men in the bludgeoning deaths of a woman and two teenage boys inside a suspected crack house in Hammond in 1998, police said.
James H. Higgason III, 51, and David L. Copley Jr., 46, were arrested in connection with the triple homicide, Hammond police Lt. Steve Kellogg said.
The men are accused of killing Elva Tamez, 36; Jerod âBuddyâ Hodge, 18, of Chicago; and Timothy W. âMidnightâ Ross, 16, of Calumet City, on Jan. 18, 1998, inside a home in the 4600 block of Torrence Avenue in Hammond.
Hodge and Ross appeared to have been beaten while they were sleeping. Tamez, who lived at the house, was found face-down on the floor, Lake Criminal Court records state.
