An alleged gunman accused of killing retired Chicago Fire Department Lt. Dwain Williams during a botched carjacking in Morgan Park was ordered held without bail Monday.
Two teenagers are already facing murder charges related to the deadly Dec. 3 shooting, but Devin Barron, 20, is believed to be one of two people who pulled the trigger outside the Let’s Get Poppin’ popcorn store at 11758 S. Western Ave., Cook County prosecutors said.
The second alleged gunman has not been charged.
All of the suspects are part of a “carjacking crew” that is believed to be responsible for other crimes in the area, police have said.

CHICAGO A third person has been charged in the attempted carjacking that left a retired Chicago firefighter dead. Devin Barron, 20, of Lynwood, has been charged with felony first degree murder and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. Barron is also facing a misdemeanor count for possession of cannabis. Chicago police said Barron was also a fugitive from justice who was wanted on an out-of-state warrant.
On Dec. 3, retired CFD Lt. Dwain Williams was leaving a popcorn store in Morgan Park when police said he was approached by four men driving a stolen Ford Fusion. The men were believed to be after Williams Jeep Grand Cherokee. There was an exchange of gunfire between Williams, who held a conceal-carry license, and the four men, police said. Williams suffered a fatal gunshot wound.
