South Cumbria chef Simon Rogan falls just short on BBC s Great British Christmas Menu

SOUTH Cumbria chef Simon Rogan has fallen just short in his efforts to reach the final of BBC s Great British Christmas Menu. Mr Rogan, owner of L Enclume and Rogan & Co in Cartmel, took third place in the semi-final for both the dessert and petit four dishes. He was up against stiff competition in Lisa Allen, who has three dishes in the final banquet, Niall Keating, and Tommy Banks, who took the final slot for the petit four dish. They were all competing to be able to cook at the banquet for the key workers who have been highlighted as the heroes during the global coronavirus pandemic.

The Executive Chef at one of East Lancashire s most desirable restaurant s has made it on to the final banquet of The Great British Menu Christmas Special with her venison main course. Lisa Goodwin-Allen, who is Executive Chef at Michelin starred Northcote in Langho topped the judges scoreboards with her succulent dish, and will now go on to compete for another place on the final menu with her dessert and petit fours creations. Speaking about Wednesday night s triumph, Lisa said: “When it was announced my main course had won, it was quite an emotional moment. It’s a complete honour to be cooking for the key workers who have kept essential services running during the pandemic this year and I’m very humbled to have been chosen.”
