Loch Lomond backs Great British Entrepreneur Awards 19th January, 2021 by Nicola Carruthers Scotch whisky producer Loch Lomond has agreed a sponsorship deal with the Great British Entrepreneur Awards. Scotch whisky Glen Scotia will sponsor the Entrepreneurial Spirit Award The agreement will see Loch Lomond’s Scotch whisky brand Glen Scotia become the Great British Entrepreneur Awards’ (GBEA) entrepreneurial spirit partner. The brand will sponsor the Entrepreneurial Spirit Award, which recognises and rewards a business owner who has shown particular entrepreneurial spirit each month. John Grieveson, chief marketing officer at Glen Scotia, said: “The early entrepreneurial spirit shown by our founders back in 1832 is embedded in Glen Scotia’s DNA.

The award-winning brand, owned by Loch Lomond Group, is one of only a handful of distilleries left in Cambeltown that has maintained production since the 1830s - the region s whisky-making heyday. The partnership will see Glen Scotia sponsor the Entrepreneurial Spirit Award, and together with the GBEA it will recognise and reward a business owner who has shown particular entrepreneurial spirit each month.  Since being founded in 2013, the GBEA has worked to acknowledge the hard work and inspirational stories of entrepreneurs and businesses in the UK. It attempts to foster a wider sense of community among the country s entrepreneurs, outside its awards ceremony.

Search on for North-East tech leaders who inspire diversity

Fareeh Usman THE search is on for role models who can inspire the North-East tech sector to be more diverse. Regional tech organisation Dynamo has launched a hero campaign to find people working to make the sector more inclusive and equal. Fareeha Usman, Dynamo’s equality, diversity and inclusion innovation manager, is leading the campaign. She said: We realise that we need to do more to ensure we represent our diverse society and support the region’s SMEs and wider tech community to do the same. We would hope and expect to see honesty, equality, respect and open-mindedness enshrined in North-East tech businesses. It’s vital that it is seen as an inclusive, welcoming sector in which anyone can succeed.”
