Finals are approaching and students are itching to move out of dorms to return home for the summer. If you live in an apartment off campus, you have the option to stay for the summer depending on your lease. Going home in between academic years allows you to visit family and hometown friends, but there are plenty of perks to staying in Binghamton for the summer. Whether you are enrolled in a summer course or not, read on to discover some fun!

REO Speedwagon Wednesday, Aug. 25 at 8 p.m.
Melissa Etheridge Friday, Aug. 27, at 8 p.m.
Vixen and Great White Saturday, Aug. 28 (Time TBA)
Dropkick Murphys Sunday, Aug. 29 at 8 p.m.
The Oak Ridge Boys Tuesday, Aug. 31 at 2 p.m.
Sheena Easton Wednesday, Sept. 1 at 2 p.m.
To add to the current list, it was confirmed Monday that
Starship with Mickey Thomas will be taking the Chevy Court Stage on August 27 - according to the Fair s Facebook page. A time has not been confirmed yet.
It will be the first time in 10 years that the band has come to the Great New York State Fair, according to Syracuse.com. The band, which initially formed as a continuation of Jefferson Starship (previously a Jefferson Airplane spinoff), is best known for ‘80s rock hits like “Sara,” “We Built This City,” and “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now.”

Syracuse, N.Y. - Senator Rachel May has been busy dealing with a couple of issues.
As planning is underway for this year s Great New York State Fair, Senator Rachel is looking to make things easier and cheaper for the vendors.
May is introducing a bill that would allow State Fair vendors to carry over their liquor license from last year s fair.
The fair of course canceled last year due to the pandemic. May says vendors should be allowed to extend that license from 2020 to 2021.
And Bitcoin miners beware! Senator May is the co-sponsor of a bill that would put a three-year moratorium on all Cryptocurrency mining in the state. She wants the environmental impact of digital currencies to be investigated.

New York State Fair to be held with virus restrictions in place

GEDDES, N.Y. (WBNG) Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Monday morning that the state will host the Great New York State Fair this year.
Cuomo said the State Fair will begin Aug. 20 and will be limited to 50% capacity. He says these are the estimated guidelines as of now, he says that the guidelines may change, and more specifics will be announced, as it gets closer to the date.
The Great New York State Fair will go on!
This year, @NYSFair will return starting August 20th and will run the full 18 days at reduced capacity.
