Credit: Busani Bafana/IPS BULAWAYO, Zimbabwe, Mar 16 2021 (IPS) - It is not everyday that a young farmer registers success in his enterprise and vows this is what he will do for the rest of his life. Yet this is the story of Lihle Moyo, a 27-year-old farmer from Gwanda, about 160km south of Bulawayo, Zimbabwe’s second-largest city. With little to no experience in farming, Moyo says he took over his father’s plot and turned it into a thriving poultry, cabbage, tomato and onion farm two years ago as an experiment.

1 400 Namibians enrolled at Stellenbosch

1 400 Namibians enrolled at Stellenbosch 2021-03-05  About 1 400 Namibian students are currently enrolled at Stellenbosch University, arguably one of South Africa’s oldest and highly regarded universities. Visiting rector and vice chancellor of Stellenbosch Wim de Villiers said the Namibian student legion was among the highest among international students at the university.  De Villiers yesterday paid a courtesy call on Windhoek mayor Job Amupanda, who is also a former product of the South African university.  The professor emphasised that the institution has more than 32 000 students that are studying towards under and postgraduate programmes, of which 4 5o0 are international students, including 1 400 Namibians. 

National Science Day celebrated

National Science Day celebrated Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Feb 28: To mark the discovery of the Raman Effect by Indian Physicist Sir, C V Raman, National Science Day was celebrated today by various educational institutions with basic objective to spread the message of importance of science and its application among the people. Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu celebrated National Science Day 2021 by organizing a function having theme “Future of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI): Impacts on Education, Skills and Work”. Dr R C Agrawal, DDG, (Education), ICAR, New Delhi was chief guest on the occasion and he said that education development should be organic and holistic. Dr Sudershan Kumar, Ex DG, DRDO was guest of honour and delivered his lecture on Role of Science in making India Self-Reliant. Prof J P Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu spoke about their initiatives and achievements.
