India s crude oil production fell by 5 per cent and natural gas output slumped by 8 per cent in the fiscal year to March 2021 as private and public sector firms produced less, government data showed on Tuesday.
Crude oil production fell to 30.5 million tonnes in 2020-21 from 32.17 million tonnes a year back, according to the latest data released by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) produced over 2 per cent less oil at 20.2 million tonnes than a year back as a nationwide lockdown that lasted over two months shut some of its fields. Oil India Ltd (OIL) produced 5.4 per cent less oil while fields operated by private firms such as Vedanta s Cairn saw 12.6 per cent less output.

Mumbai, April 20 : Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has tweaked its manufacturing process at the Jamnagar Refinery to produce and distribute around 700 metric tonnes of medical grade oxygen everyday to three states and a Union Territory, official sources said here on Tuesday.
The 700 tonnes of oxygen is being ferried daily since the past two days to Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Union Territory of Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli free of cost in special tankers, as per their specific needs. It is sufficient to provide relief to at least 70,000 critically ill Covid-19 patients daily in these states and UTs.

The Tata Group and the Reliance Group have announced that they would be helping the government s efforts to increase production and supply of medical oxygen in the country to overcome its shortage and fight Covid-19 pandemic.
In a tweet, the Tata Group on Tuesday said it is committed to doing as much as possible to strengthen India s fight against Covid-19. The group announced that it would be importing 24 cryogenic containers to transport liquid oxygen to help overcome its shortage.
