Black Americans are statistically more likely to have diabetes, hypertension, heart disease and other chronic conditions than other populations which puts them at great risk of poor outcomes if diagnosed with COVID-19.  “We made it known that we needed to concentrate on the Black and brown citizens because they’re the most vulnerable due to health disparities,” Anderson said.   He said the spread of falsehoods about vaccines, “stuff that’s just way out there,” keeps some eligible Black residents from seeking it out.   “The biggest apprehension, I think for many still, is that there’s so much misinformation on social media,” Anderson said. “Social media is not our friend right now.”
