The 56th Academy of Country Music Awards were held in Nashville on Sunday, April 18, 2021.
NEW YORK (AP) Carrie Underwood brought the Academy of Country Music Awards to church. Maren Morris won two honors, including song of the year. Miranda Lambert performed three times and held on to her record as the most decorated winner in ACM history. And Mickey Guyton, the first Black woman to host the awards show, gave a powerful, top-notch vocal performance.
Though female country stars didn’t compete for the night’s top prize – Luke Bryan was named entertainer of the year – they owned Sunday’s ACM Awards.

(Reuters) - Broadcasting before live audiences from country music s hometown, Nashville, Tennessee, the 56th Academy of Country Music awards show brought a star-studded Sunday night.
For the second year, the ACM awards took place in multiple smaller sites around Nashville, including the emblematic Grand Ole Opry House, rather than at the usual Las Vegas venue.
More than two dozen performers, including co-hosts Keith Urban and Mickey Guyton, as well as genre stars Kenny Chesney and Maren Morris, who won two awards, took part in the three-hour show aired by CBS and Paramount+ at 8 p.m. ET (0000 GMT).

Backstage in the virtual ACM Awards press room, country stars looked anxiously toward a horizon that promises a return to touring, while taking part in a socially-distanced show that was still much the same as the 55th ACMs last September.
Luke Bryan reacted to his surprise win for Entertainer of the Year from Los Angeles, after coming down with COVID-19 prevented him from performing and taking part in the show in person.
