(WKBW) — Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center was prepared to receive hundreds of doses of COVID-19 vaccine this week, but that shipment was instead delivered to Catholic Health. The news was unwelcome for NFMMC s President and CEO Joseph Ruffolo, who s team announced last week that they acquired a freezer to adequately store the vaccine. As a result, high-risk NFMMC employees who anticipated receiving the vaccine this week have been instructed to drive to Mount St. Mary s Hospital in Lewiston or Mercy Hospital in South Buffalo for the shot while Niagara Falls Memorial works with the New York State Health Department to clear up the confusion.

(WKBW) — Officials say a 49-year-old man is dead after he was stabbed on Tuesday in Niagara Falls. Authorities say Thomas James Anderson was stabbed near his home in the 600-block of 20th Street in the city around 6 p.m. Tuesday. A spokesperson says Anderson was sent to ECMC to be treated and was then transferred the emergency room at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and died early Thursday morning. Investigators say following an autopsy the death has been ruled as a homicide.

Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center to Realign Primary Care Network By: Staff Reporter Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center today announced plans to realign its primary care network to better serve its growing number of patients. The most significant change will be the closing of its North Tonawanda Primary Care Center and the relocation of its providers to other conveniently located sites. The North Tonawanda office will close December 31. Beginning January 4, 2021, Dr. Adeel Amir will join the staff at Memorial’s Lewiston Primary Care Center and Physician Assistant Melitta Mendonca will see patients at the primary care center on Memorial’s downtown Niagara Falls campus. North Tonawanda Primary Care patients may also choose to receive care at Memorial primary care centers in Wheatfield and Grand Island.
