Fox Chapel Area School District residents might pay slightly more in school taxes in 2021-2022 if a proposed $104 million budget is approved in June.
The school board on Monday night voted to move ahead with the tentative budget which calls for a tax rate of 20.12 mills, a 1.3% increase.
If approved, the owner of a home assessed at $100,000 would pay $2,012, up from $1,986 this year.
The budget is available on the district’s website.
The board is scheduled to discuss the budget during its meetings at 7 p.m. June 8 and June 14, and is expected to vote on the final budget on June 14.

Lower Valley Magisterial District Justice candidate Barry Wingard is running his campaign by doing what he called “something really outrageous.”
“I’m going to talk about the issues in our community that matter,” said Wingard, an Indiana Township resident who is among five candidates seeking the six-year post that serves the Fox Chapel Area School District municipalities.

Zoom fatigue and mild spring weather have combined to thwart a hearty enrollment for the upcoming Fox Chapel Area Adult Education (FCAAE) semester, leaders said.
The program, which enjoyed robust fall and winter semesters, is experiencing a significant dropoff with enrollment down about 75% this academic year, Executive Director Sue Goodwin said.
She is urging people to give the online brochure a second look.
“Our instructors have done an amazing job changing their teaching to adapt to Zoom,” Goodwin said. “Our students have been really pleased with our Zoom classes. One student told me that Thursday nights were the best night of the week, knowing there was an FCAAE class to look forward to.”
