Taipei, Jan. 31 (CNA) A man confirmed with COVID-19 on Saturday had visited Jiufen Old Street in New Taipei as well as several restaurants in Taoyuan, although Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) officials stressed Sunday that he was unlikely to have been infectious during that period.
The new case, a Taiwanese man in his 50s, went to Jiufen Old Street and Amei Teahouse in New Taipei on Jan. 25, said Health and Welfare Minister Chen Shih-chung (陳時中), who heads the CECC, at a press briefing in Taipei.
On Jan. 26, the man went to several places in Taoyuan, including a dumpling restaurant on Wenxing Road, Fo Guang Shan Bao Ta Temple, Yongfu Chin Pao Columbarium, Daxi Old Street and the Bai Nian You Fan restaurant on Minquan Road, Chen said.

Taipei, Jan. 30 (CNA) The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) on Saturday reminded individuals subject to self-health management not to partake in group dining or large-scale gatherings outside their homes during the Lunar New Year holiday period, and go out only when absolutely necessary.
If individuals have to go out for food, they should get takeout and eat at home, Health and Welfare Minister Chen Shih-chung (陳時中), who also heads the CECC, said during a press event in Taipei.
Stressing that the current domestic COVID-19 cluster infection is not yet over, Chen advised individuals subject to self-health management to avoid sharing utensils with family members when having a home get-together meal, to minimize the risk of cross infection.

Taipei, Jan. 28 (CNA) Although it is still unknown how the two latest domestic COVID-19 cases in Taiwan became infected, genome sequencing has shown that one of them is linked to the cluster infection at Taoyuan General Hospital, Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) officials said Thursday.
The two cases, which were announced by the CECC on Sunday, are a husband and wife in their 60s. The husband was an inpatient at the hospital from Jan. 8-11 due to health problems unrelated to COVID-19, during which time his wife looked after him.
Over the weekend, both of them tested positive for COVID-19 after displaying symptoms, even though they had no known contact with any of the 13 previously confirmed cases linked to the hospital.

Taipei, Jan. 28 (CNA) Taiwan on Thursday confirmed two new imported cases of COVID-19 and reported no locally transmitted cases for the fourth consecutive day, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).
One of the new cases is a Taiwanese man in his 20s who returned from the United States on Sunday, said Health and Welfare Minister Chen Shih-chung (陳時中), who heads the CECC, at a press briefing.
He began to have a distorted sense of smell during quarantine, and his COVID-19 test result came back positive on Thursday, Chen said.
Taipei, Jan. 22 (CNA) Taiwan on Friday recorded six imported and two new domestic cases of COVID-19, both linked to a cluster infection at Taoyuan General Hospital, where the number has now climbed to 12, according to health authorities.
