TULSA, Okla. â The need for help by homeless veterans keeps growing and is met with more government funding.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs awarded millions of dollars in grants to nonprofits across the country last month. Three of them are in Oklahoma: Community Service Council, Goodwill Industries of Central Oklahoma, and KI BOIS Community Action Foundation.

ReMerge of Oklahoma County showed off its shiny new facility and colorful artwork with a fun social event this week. Making a great evening better, the ArtWalk Celebration came right as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said fully vaccinated people could ditch wearing masks in gatherings. I loved seeing so many smiling faces as I toured the beautiful new building.
Through ticket sales and an art auction, the evening raised $20,492 for ReMerge, which has had success the last 11 years providing treatment, recovery and hope for mothers facing incarceration. Included in that amount was a match up to $5,000 from the McLaughlin Family Foundation.
