FARMINGTON Tribal parks will reopen to Navajo Nation residents under a new public health emergency order, tribal President Jonathan Nez announced at a virtual town hall on April 21.
The new order will also see the tribe advance from orange status to yellow status under its reopening plan.
The order by the Navajo Department of Health was not released as of the afternoon on April 21, but Nez said it will go into effect on April 26.

Last March, the tribe s Division of Natural Resources ordered the closure of parks, recreation sites and points of interest managed by the Navajo Parks and Recreation Department because of the coronavirus.

ADHS Recommends Pause On J&J Vaccine
The Arizona Department of Health Services on Tuesday recommended a pause on administration of the one-dose Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine. The decision comes after six women experienced blood clots days after receiving the one-dose vaccine; more than 6.8 million people nationwide have received the shot. About 122,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine had been administered so far in the state, ADHS estimates.
“While the occurrence of this rare blood clot [is] extremely rare compared to the number of doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine administered nationwide, we are following the guidance of the CDC and FDA out of an abundance of caution,” Christ said Tuesday.
