PMLN protests kidney hospital renaming

MINGORA: The workers of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) on Friday staged a protest against the renaming of Nawaz Sharif Kidney Hospital.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government recently renamed Nawaz Sharif Kidney Hospital as Swat Kidney Hospital.
The provincial cabinet had moved a summary for the purpose.
The decision has prompted the PMLN to stage the protest. The protesters led by Member National Assembly Ibadullah blocked the Sangota road to all kinds of traffic.
Chanting slogans against the government, the protesters said the PTI rulers were placing plaques at the uplift projects initiated by the previous PML-N government.

PESHAWAR: Vowing to resist the government decision to change the name of Nawaz Sharif Kidney Centre in Swat, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter on Sunday termed the move biased, which would have repercussions. Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif had not established the kidney hospital through government funds. The Rs700 million was arranged from Punjab Hospitals Trust funds while Rs50 million were donated by Ishaq Dar from his own pocket, PML-N KP president Amir Muqam told a press conference here.
He said why Imran Khan had named Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre after his late mother instead of any national hero, he posed a question to challenge the rationale behind the government s move.
