ROCKPORT Six citizens are appealing the granting of a building permit issued to 20 Central LLC for the construction of a new hotel in Rockport Village. Most of the points the appellants are their objections rest on previous basis of a planning board approval appeal light, noise, traffic. Additionally, this appeal includes an argument concerning the timing of a town-wide vote, which is also been argued before a judge, and says said the building permit application for the 26-room hotel and its plans differ from the Rockport Planning Board’s May 21 site plan approval.
The appeal was filed April 9, and was accompanied by a hand-delivered letter to the Rockport Zoning Board of Appeals.
ROCKPORT After months of closed door meetings, consultations with attorneys and finally, mediation with Duward Parkinson, the towns of Camden and Rockport, along with School Administrative District 28, have come to an agreement over the $1.5 million district assessment error that over-taxed Rockport and under-taxed Camden for more than a decade of public education costs.
In short, and with details still pending, the agreement as outlined Tuesday night, March 9, arranges for $750,000 to be paid by Camden to SAD 28 over eight years. SAD 28, in turn, will give that money back to Rockport. Additioanlly, SAD 28, which educates Camden and Rockport students in grades K-8, is to give Rockport another $150,000.

Mid-Coast Solid Waste is closed all day February 2, due to severe weather conditions. The facility will reopen on Wednesday February 3, for normal hours of operation.

Knox County Administrative Offices, Knox County Superior Court, and
Rockland District Court will all be closed February 2, due to the storm. They will re-open Wednesday February 3 at 8 a.m.

State of Maine offices closed February 2.
Maine State Legislature offices will be closed Tuesday, February 2 due to winter storm. Legislative Committee meetings are postponed.
