Brantley Gilbert Experiences St. Jude Differently as a Father
The first time Brantley Gilbert visited St. Jude Children s Research Hospital, he was a new artist and a little rough around the edges. Now, he s a father, and it s a little terrifying. It s almost like I m scared of that thought, the singer told Taste of Country at the 2019 Country Cares conference. Definitely, it s a different feeling.
Gilbert and his wife Amber welcomed Barrett in November 2017. A daughter named Braylen was born in Sept. 2019. For the most part he s blocked out thoughts of them ever needing to stay at a place like this, but he s happy to have a world-renowned childhood cancer and life threatening disease hospital so close should he need it. It goes well beyond the medicine it s the culture.
For Gabby Barrett, Supporting St. Jude Is a Family Tradition

Years later after finishing third during
American Idol s 16th season and, more recently, scoring a major hit with her debut single Barrett made her first visit to St. Jude s Memphis, Tenn., campus in 2020. She knew the stories about how special of a place it is, but to see it for herself was different.
Darius Rucker s voice gets quiet when he talks about St. Jude Children s Research Hospital, but it s not out of sorrow.
The 54-year-old father of three and 2017 Angels Among Us Award recipient understands the importance of the hospital and their We Won t Stop mission. He also knows the facilities are as close to magical as you ll find. You would think it’d be sad, but it s not, Rucker tells
The kids are so happy. Every kid I talk to that had cancer or some serious disease is so happy because his path is so green . They (doctors) don’t give your kid X amount of days. They say, We re gonna save your kid s life. It s a really uplifting experience to be there.
Cam really digs in and investigates when she s looking for causes to get behind, but she never questions giving to St. Jude Children s Research Hospital. During an interview in Memphis as part of a past St. Jude Country Cares Seminar, the singer said this cause passed her tests with flying colors. The cool thing about what Country Cares does, is even before you realize what you re learning, you re learning that this community has taken it on to remind all of us that it is your responsibility as a human being, as a citizen of the country world, to give back, she notes. As you pick out who you re going to give back to, there are better and worse choices. And I don t feel bad saying that. There are nonprofits that are not run well, and you should question them and vet them out, and this place has yet to not answer a question 100-percent.
