Middlesex-London sees 71 new COVID-19 cases ahead of lockdown

MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ONT. The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) is reporting 71 new COVID-19 cases and four new deaths Monday after a record-setting weekend. The new cases and deaths bring the region’s total to 2,543 cases, 2,022 resolved and 91 deaths, leaving 430 active cases, On Saturday, Middlesex-London set a new single-day record with 87 cases, topping the previous record of 66 cases set the day before. An additional 65 cases were reported Sunday. In total, 152 new cases were reported on the weekend. Of the four deaths, a man and woman in their 80s were associated with a long-term care home. Of two others, a man in his 60s and another in his 80s, one is associated with the outbreak at University Hospital.

Daily COVID-19 case count drops by half in Middlesex-London

MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ONT. After consecutive days of record high COVID-19 cases, the Middlesex-London Health Unit is reporting just 26 new cases Wednesday. The new cases bring the region’s cumulative total to 2,200, with 1,826 resolved and 81 deaths, leaving 293 active cases. The drop in cases comes after both Monday and Tuesday saw a record-high 53 cases, matching the record initially set last week. One new death was reported, a man in his 80s associated with a long-term care home. There are ongoing outbreaks in sections of three seniors’ facilities; Chelsey Park, Country Terrace and McCormick Home, as well as at six schools and two Western University residences.

MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ONT. For the second day in a row, the Middlesex-London Health Unit is reporting 53 new COVID-19 cases, as a new hospital outbreak was declared. It is the third time in less than a week the region has set or matched the record high daily COVID-19 case count. The record was initially reported last Thursday topping the previous record of 47 set a day earlier. The new cases bring the total in the region to 2,174, with 1,776 resolved and 80 deaths leaving 318 active cases. No new deaths were reported. A new outbreak was declared at the London Health Sciences Centre s (LHSC) Victoria Hospital on Tuesday in the C5-100 ENT/Burns/Plastics unit.
