A renowned retired Nottinghamshire surgeon has thanked the medics that saved his life as he now recovers at home.
Mr Graeme Perks suffered puncture wounds to his abdomen and chest during an incident inside his Halam Hill home at 4.15am on January 14.
Since then, Mr Perks had been fighting for his life in intensive care at Nottingham University Hospitals.

He is now rehabilitating slowly and satisfactorily at home in the care of his family, a hospital spokesman confirmed.
