Christmas is just around the corner but there are still dozens of dogs across the country who are hoping for a forever home in time for the festive season.
Staff at animal shelters across the UK have written letters to Father Christmas to share the stories of unwanted dogs in the hope of attracting the attention of potential owners.
Adorable dogs looking for a home include Max the Labrador/Mastiff cross who has been living at Dogs Trust Salisbury for nine months. There is also four-year-old terrier Pugsley, who currently lives at at RSPCA Leeds, Wakefield & District branch, and five-year-old lurcher Eric, who is being looked after by the Blue Cross.

A dog that was found abandoned, scared and alone in a cemetery is getting ready to spend Christmas in his new home at the heart of his loving family.
Eight-year-old Crossbreed, Terry, was discovered by a member of the public in a Manchester cemetery in April.
Nobody came forward to claim him, so he was taken to Dogs Trust Manchester in Denton to be loved and looked after and nursed back to health.
