December 24, 2020 The Maine Nordiques of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are extremely proud to announce that forward Reese Farrellhas committed to play NCAA Division I hockey in the fall at Army - West Point in Atlantic Hockey. Farrell, 19, is in his first season playing junior hockey in the NAHL. The 6’0/185 lbs. native of Auburn, ME, has recorded nine points (5 goals, 4 assists) in 16 games so far during the 2020-21 season. “Reese has been a major part of our team’s success this season,” said Maine Nordiques Organizational general manager Eric Soltys. “West Point is a special place with a special person in Coach (Riley) leading the way. I have known Coach Riley for many years and it’s an honor on many different levels for Reese to be a part of the strong traditions held at West Point. He’s the right type of person to continue what is necessary to keep their long-standing tradition and commitment going in a great direction. Well deserved!”

As lacrosse continues to develop in non-traditional areas, Justin Porter plays a key role in the Chicago area. The former MLL champion and Hobart midfielder created a club program named The Lacrosse School to provide players an authentic lacrosse and life experience. Porter, a Geneva (N.Y.) native who won an MLL championship with the Rochester Rattlers in 2008, aims to provide a tight-knit, family-oriented environment with The Lacrosse School, which is a year-round school program. There are only about 40 kids each year, so everyone can get the necessary attention.

CONTRIBUTED PHOTO Published: 12/14/2020 1:18:23 PM There were more than few Northfield residents who were stunned when they first learned in a Recorder article on Nov. 9 that a Missouri developer was submitting plans for a three-story apartment building with 24 apartments and townhomes at the end of one of the most historic and unique streets in Northfield: Highland Avenue. On Nov. 24, a site plan review application was submitted by the developer for a large attached apartment building. Christian Arnold, who filed the application under his own name not his company is currently in court over another project he submitted in Northfield for an “upscale” campground. Arnold told The Recorder he was “excited to see the community working together to showcase the beauty of the area.”
