Seized Easter eggs. Image: Northumbria Police A SUSPECTED shoplifter was snared by police after a routine vehicle stop led to them uncovering a haul of stolen Easter eggs. At about 11.15am on March 9, officers were on patrol in Washington when they came across a vehicle linked to a suspected theft. It was reportedly linked to a theft at the Iceland in Blaydon where chocolate and booze had been swiped from the shelves. Officers signalled for the Vauxhall Astra to stop and quickly uncovered hundreds of pounds worth of booze and Easter eggs stashed in the vehicle’s boot. The 49-year-old female driver was arrested on suspicion of theft and the chocolatey goods were seized.
