The coronavirus pandemic slowed movement on the corridor project, and a developer slated to be part of the project, at least peripherally, needs to complete ongoing projects in Grand Forks before committing to a downtown development plan.

Construction in Grand Forks, including several large developments, has continued throughout the pandemic and several new businesses are expected to open in 2021.
The developments range from new medical facilities, a retirement home, new apartment and office buildings to restaurants. The developments are concentrated in and around downtown and on the south end of Grand Forks, and represent what former long-serving Mayor Mike Brown called a “billion-dollar boom” for the city.
Our view: Board should give its blessing to Grand Forks proposed TIF projects
A contingent of city leaders this week outlined the development projects and their hoped-for TIFs to the Grand Forks School Board. The city, the School Board and the County Commission all must approve the TIFs before the projects can move forward.
We urge all boards to give their blessing.
