A MUM-of-three killed her baby boy by slitting his throat because she believed she had to sacrifice him to save the world, a court heard.
Mariam Benzain, 32, almost decapitated five-month-old Elias Biad after her husband left the family home in Preston Road, Harrow, northwest London, to go to work.

At around 9.30am on 22 July 2020, she is said to have called Abdelilah Biad Elahmar telling him she had slaughtered the infant because she had been told to by Allah.
Elias father rushed home from his job street cleaning for Westminster Council to find the baby lifeless and lying in a pool of blood, the Old Bailey heard earlier today.
The Mayor of London awarded Northwick Park Hospital nurses on behalf of all NHS workers for their work over the pandemic. During the annual Glamour Magazine women of the year awards, three workers at Northwick Park were chosen to pick up the national ‘Gamechanger’ award on behalf of their colleagues across the healthcare system. This includes critical care matron Carol Galvin, high dependency nurse Geobina George, and A&E matron Laura Norman. Introducing the winners during the virtual event, London Mayor Sadiq Khan said: “I wanted to express my heartfelt thanks to all the frontline NHS workers who continue to pull out all the stops to save lives and keep us safe from the doctors and nurses to the cooks, cleaners, porters and care staff your actions over the last year have been truly heroic.”
