Peoria-area church damaged after car slams into building s wall

MOSSVILLE – A car-sized hole in the front of his church wasn t exactly what the Rev. Jeremy Peters was expecting a few days before Christmas. Still, Peters found silver linings Tuesday morning after someone drove a vehicle through a frame wall and into Crossroads Baptist Church in Mossville. Praise the Lord, nobody was inside the building, Peters said. As inconvenient as it is, I m happy they hit the building. Any number of these homes (nearby) would have hit a bedroom or had a substantial loss of life. About 3:45 a.m., the Peoria County Sheriff s Office was notified about the incident. Peters said a neighbor who was preparing to go to work witnessed it.
