I remember it like it happened yesterday. Mom and I were traveling from New York to Athens, Greece, connecting in Frankfort, Germany. Severe weather in New York delayed our departure and scrambled international air travel. In Frankfort, we had to rebook our flight to Athens. Mom took our carry-ons and looked for a seat, disappearing into the sea of stranded travelers. And I snaked my way in a very long line to the ticket counter. Booking the flight, the ticket agent asked for passports. I had mine and said Iâd be right back with my motherâs. When the agent informed me that I would have to start again at the end of the line, I responded: âNo I donât.â And turning from the counter, hands cupped around my mouth, I shouted: âMOM!â In a flash my mom appeared out of the crowd, her hand outstretched, waving: âIâm here!â

Vans Partners With a Scottsdale Doughnut Shop Chin Up Donuts, the female-owned doughnut and coffee shop located at The Promenade (7325 East Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard, #103, Scottsdale), opened in November … and it’s already teaming up with Vans, guys. Owner Alex McEntire applied for Vans’ “Foot the Bill” initiative, a program launched by the skate shoe company to help out small businesses during the pandy. Chin Up Donuts was selected, and together they created a shoe and shirt. The net proceeds will go toward new Chin Up Donuts packaging and a mural by a local artist to go up in the shop. The gear is available till May 11 and can be found on the Vans website.

The theme of Racineâs 79th Fourth of July Parade was âWelcome Home!â The parade featured 128 entries, including the University of Wisconsin-Madisonâs Badger Band, the Wiener Mobile and the popular Iwo Jima Float, along with horses, clowns, jugglers, antique cars, military heroes, award-winning marching bands (and drum and bugle corps), floats, dance troupes, sports heroes, school groups, politicians, and other dignitaries. The parade began at Goold and Main streets and proceeded south on Main Street to 14th Street. 1 of 26
