Nashville will begin accepting appointments Thursday morning for a new drive-thrucoronavirus vaccine site intended to open Monday in the city s southeast quadrant.
The vaccination center will open at the old Kmart location at 2491 Murfreesboro Road that has been used as a drive-thru testing site for about a year. Officials from Meharry Medical College will transition from running the testing site to the vaccination center, according to a news release from the Nashville Metro Public Health Department.
The vaccine site will exclusively distribute the one-dose vaccine developed by Johnson & Johnson by appointment only. Nashville offered the J&J vaccine during a massive drive-thru event at Nissan Stadium last month. But the Kmart location will be the first city-run site to offer drive-thru vaccination on a daily basis.
