The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported a magnitude 4.2 quake in the Philippines near Iba, Zambales, Central Luzon, only 27 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early morning on Tuesday 29 December 2020 at 1:57 am local time at a moderately shallow depth of 32 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.2 as well.

A magnitude 4.2 earthquake near Juntas, Abangares, Provincia de Guanacaste, Costa Rica, was reported only 21 minutes ago by the Nicaraguan Institute of Territorial Studies (INETER), considered the main national agency that monitors seismic activity in this part of the world. The earthquake occurred at a moderately shallow depth of 60 km beneath the epicenter in the morning on Monday 28 December 2020 at 11:12 am local time.
