Pictures: Google/Family handout A DRIVER has been found not guilty of causing death by careless driving following a crash on the A35 in which a grandfather died. Fahd Baakza, 34, was behind the wheel of a Nissan Micra when he drove to Bridport Picnic Area to find some food on the evening of Wednesday, January 23, 2019. Baakza drove on the A35 eastbound and manoeuvred into a filter lane to turn right to the site, also known as the Eype junction. The area has no street lighting or no CCTV cameras.

Fahd Baakza, 34, is accused of causing death by careless driving after his Nissan Micra collided with Victor Samways Ford Fiesta on the A35 at Eype near Bridport on the evening of Wednesday, January 23, 2019. Mr Samways severely damaged vehicle was struck again by Volkswagen Transporter van moments later. Baakza, of Dorset Street, London, gave evidence during the trial at Bournemouth Crown Court. He confirmed he purchased the Nissan Micra in December 2018 – a month before the collision - and drove with the assistance of Google Maps on his smartphone.

Victor Samways’ red Ford Fiesta was in a collision with Fahd Baakza’s silver Nissan Micra on the A35 at Eype near Bridport at around 7.50pm on January 23, 2019. Baakza was turning off the A35 into the rest area when his car collided with Mr Samways oncoming vehicle.
