Know how to prevent kids broken bones in the summer by avoiding these things

There are things parents can do to help prevent these bone fractures. For the monkey bars, Souder recommends choosing less high bars and being underneath your child so you can hold them if they fall. When kids are going fast on those high monkey bars, Souder says, it makes me the most anxious. For skateboards, hoverboards and bikes, have kids wear a helmet and also wrist guards. They support the wrist if a child falls and tries to brace using their hands.  Elbow pads and knee pads are also helpful.  Trampoline injuries used to happen when kids fell off of them onto the hard ground. With nets, injuries happen when one person falls on top of another person. Often it s an adult falling onto a child. Kids should be jumping by themselves.

Austin s kids getting sick again with common colds as masking, other COVID-19 pandemic measures wane

Our kids normal illnesses are back. For more than a year after the COVID-19 pandemic began, kids were mostly at home or wearing masks, social distancing and washing their hands more often than when at school or in public. Their parents and caregivers were wiping down more surfaces. The second we went into lockdown and did masking and social distancing and virtual school, all the sickness went away, said Dr. Lisa Gaw, a pediatrician with Texas Children s Urgent Care. Most kids stayed healthy throughout the last spring, summer, fall and even winter. The flu season that many doctors worried about in combination with COVID-19 didn t happen.
