Updated: Share Article AAA Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has said vaccines made in India were very safe and that there should be not be any hesitation to take them. Dispelling myths about vaccines, she said during her visit to Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) to launch the COVID-19 vaccination programme that people need not be afraid to take the doses. It was a safe vaccine and even if it caused any allergic or minor complications, there were special arrangements in place to deal with them. She appealed to all frontline warriors and others to take the vaccine with confidence as it was developed and cleared as per strict safety norms in place adhering to international standards.

A female sanitation worker at Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad took the first vaccine in the presence of state health minister Eatala Rajender. Union Minister of State for Home, G. Kishan Redy, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar and other officials were present at the formal launch of the programme at Gandhi Hospital.

Soundararajan, who herself is a physician, along with her husband and renowned nephrologist, P. Soundararajan, visited Nizam s Institute of Medical Science (NIMS) here and launched the vaccination drive. The Governor who had visited NIMS in June at the peak of the pandemic to convey her support to doctors and other healthcare workers affected by Covid was back at the same hospital to inaugurate vaccination drive.

Eatala seeks public support for COVID vaccination drive

Minister to take vaccine as confidence-building measure Health Minister Eatala Rajender on Friday has said the COVID-19 vaccine is safe and that since he is the ‘captain’ of the Health department, he would take the vaccine first as a measure to build confidence among citizens. Addressing mediapersons, the Minister encouraged the people to cooperate in the vaccination drive. Answering questions on the efficacy and trials conducted among vaccine candidates, he said the Drugs Controller General of India has looked into the matter. He added that stage three trials of Covaxin are under way at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences.
