The opposition lawmakers grilled the Pakistan Tehreeke-Insaf (PTI)-led provincial government over not spending funds being collected in the name of Covid-19.
Punjab Finance Minister Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bakht admitted that no funds had been spent at the moment adding the government was focusing on the different options for the purpose of spending said funds. In the question answer session, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker Rabia Nusrat put a query to the finance minister on why the funds were not being spent to control Covid-19.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said the government was compelled to pass on the impact of oil prices to consumers to avert additional debt burden on the country.
Speaking to a private television channel during his visit to North Waziristan on Wednesday, which was aired on Friday night, Prime Minister Khan said the country could not afford more loans to keep petroleum prices at the minimum benchmark.
He said devaluation of rupee had impacted prices of petroleum products, pulses, ghee and other imported items, which gave rise to inflation.

On the direction of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the Punjab government has decided to raise funds for megaprojects through the sale and lease of land and in this regard issued instructions to the relevant departments to identify their lands and prepare a strategy for its use.
An important meeting held at the Civil Secretariat on Wednesday deliberated on ways to generate funds for the megaprojects through the sale and lease of the government s land.
Punjab Finance Minister Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bakht participated in the meeting through a video link that was attended by Punjab chief secretary, administrative secretaries of different departments including finance, irrigation, agriculture, livestock, Auqaf, and cooperatives, secretary colonies and chairperson of Punjab Cooperative Board for Liquidation.
