Slogans raised by members of the All Assam Matak Yuba-Chatra Sanmilan (AAMYCS), All Assam Safai Karmi/Covid Warriors (Ward boys and Laboratory Technician), and Nikhil Bishnupriya Manipuri Mahasabharended the air of the ground. The number of reservation for the students of our tribe in comparison to other tribes of Assam is less. Thus we demand 10 reserved seats in different universities, medical colleges, engineering colleges and other technical institutions of the State. Guwahati, Dec 29 (IANS): The Assam government introduced Bills in the Assembly on Monday to shut over 600 madrasas run by it, which was strongly opposed by the opposition Congress and AIUDF.
Assam Education and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma introducing the bill in the assembly, said: The objective to introduce the bill the Assam Repealing bill 2020 would repeal of the Assam Madrassa Education (Provincialisation) Act 1995 and the Assam Madrassa Education (Provincialisation of services of employees and re-organisation of Madrassa Educational Institutions) Act 2018.

Majority of GMCH doctors still continuing private practices
Majority of doctors at the Gauhati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) are still continuing their private medical practices even as Dispur has failed to implement its decision to give them pay scales similar to that of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). In March this year, the State Government had barred the GMCH doctors from working in nursing homes and doing private practices from April 2020.
