Leon County has had 22 more residents test positive for COVID-19 and two more residents have died because of the virus, the Florida Department of Health reported on Tuesday.
Local health officials have warned that, though fewer and fewer people are testing positive for the virus in recent weeks, the number of people who are dying because of it has not decreased.
In the past two weeks, 14 residents deaths have been confirmed by the state health department.
To date, 296 residents have died because of the virus out of 28,948 residents who have tested positive, according to state data.
The county s two-week positivity rate stands at roughly 2.5%, according to state data. Health experts have advised an area s positivity rate should stay at or below 5%.
