Young girl shot in the head in north Minneapolis The girl was outside when she was struck by the bullet, police said. Author: A girl was transported to a hospital in very critical condition after being shot in the head Saturday in Minneapolis.  Police spokesperson John Elder said the shooting was reported at approximately 8:32 p.m., with a preteen girl struck in the head by a bullet on the 2200 block of Llion Avenue North in north Minneapolis.  Officers arrived at the scene and immediately rushed the child in a squad vehicle to North Memorial Health Hospital in Robbinsdale.  Police are investigating the belief that a red Ford pulled into the alley and a shooter fired from the car at a home. Elder said several children were playing outside in the backyard at the time of the shooting.

Ladavionne Garrett Jr. was shot while riding in a vehicle by someone outside the vehicle in the 3400 block of N. Morgan Avenue. The vehicle s driver took him to North Memorial Health Hospital in Robbinsdale, where he was reported in very critical condition, police said Friday. Ladavionne was the second child in a week injured by gunfire in a city that has seen an increase in violent crime over the last year. On Monday, an infant suffered bullet fragment injuries to his hands in a shooting that also wounded two adults. The victims in that shooting were also in a car that someone shot into.

Family gives thanks to local first responders following near-death accident St. James Plaindealer On Oct. 2 of last year, members of the St. James Emergency Medical Service, St. James Fire and the Watonwan County Sheriff s Office responded to a head-on collision between a semi and a car. Dispatcher Emily Bentson received the call that night. I was new in the position of dispatch, and this the first big accident that I was on my own by myself. The 911 call came in and it was the driver of the [truck] and all I could hear was oh my God, hurry, recalls Bentson, a voluntary EMT. I m on the phone [and] you can t do anything but get everyone else going, so that s where it s hard for me.
